ABOUT Mattijs Vanderleen

Mattijs Vanderleen is a belgian drummer/percussionist, fond of melody and dynamics, always trying to connect and support. He studied at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and obtained a master in classical percussion in 2006, in 2007 he studied for 1 year at Codarts Rotterdam Pop academy.

What keeps me digging; different drums, percussion or any instrument, more overlooking many aspects of what I consider life, requiere fragile and accurate openness towards their characteristics. The right balance between all parameters and trying to open up and catch as much as possible, results in a sensitive communication. On a musical level I see it as my job to put this in perspective. This can be anything. Marble Sounds, Madou, Baroque Orchestration X, Arno, Les Ballets C de la B, Bl!ndman, Adam Woolf's Let the music Speak, Toneelgroep Amsterdam, Daniel Johnston, Pétur Ben, Spinvis and Stéphanie Blanchoud are some of the artists I connected with.
